SELECT BASKETBALL PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Boys and Girls 4th grade - 8th grade
BRYC Select Basketball is offered to players looking to develop higher level basketball skills in a competitive environment. BRYC gives players with an advanced skill level the chance to participate in various leagues and tournaments. The select program requires a greater time commitment from participants for practices and games. The seaons runs from tryouts in October thru playoffs in early March.
Who can play:
Boys and girls 4th grade through 8th grade are eligible to try out for the travel league. All players must reside in Fairfax County.
What is the cost: TBD each year.
The cost for participating in the BRYC select program is decided each year. The price to play in the 2021-2022 winter season was $270.00 per player. This includes uniforms, games, practices and equipment.. No scholarships are available for select basketball.
How are teams formed:
All players interested in playing on a BRYC travel league team must attend tryouts. Teams will be formed based upon the players grade level for that season and talent level. As long as participants are no more than two (2) years older than others in his/her grade as of September 1 then he/she can play at grade level. All players will be expected to provide documentation of his/her current grade level (a report card works well) once selected for a team. Tryout dates, times and locations are posted on this website.
Players are selected based on experience and talent level. There are a limited number of select spots and those not assigned to a team are encouraged to register in the BRYC Recreation League.
Practices are held once or twice a week, normally on week nights. Each practice is 60-90 minutes long depending on gym availability.
League games are normally played each week and can be held on both weekends and week nights. Tournament play is on weekends.
Where are games played:
Games are scheduled primarily in Fairfax County. However, the team may participate in games throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland area.
