Winter Rec Season 2020-2021 (Updated January 1, 2021)
BRYC Basketball is excited to return to play. BRYC Basketball is committed to the safety of our players and coaches. To that end, we will be following guidelines set by the Virginia High School League (VHSL), CDC and the State of Virginia as it relates to a return to youth sports. We will continue to evolve our return to play guidelines as any new updates are released by health authorities.
All Participants in any program taking place at BRYC are responsible for signing our new General Participation Waiver.
Attendance records will be kept at each practice/game to ensure accurate record keeping in the event contract tracing must be initiated. Practice and game attendance are limited to those that have registered.
Participants/Coaches are to check temperatures before coming to BRYC. If your temperature is 100° F or greater please stay home. Do not attend if you or your child are exhibiting symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. Symptoms include: Cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, unexplained fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and/or diarrhea. All participants will be required to complete a health screening prior to each practice and/or game.
Only one team will be practicing in any given gym practice session. No gym sharing. Each practice session is limited to one hour one evening per week.
No parents or spectators will be allowed into the gyms/facilities. Registered coaches and players are the only people allowed at practice. On game day, a limited number of adult/parent volunteers with designated jobs will be allowed in the facility. Designated game day jobs include equipment/cleaning manager, scorekeeper and building director.
After practice and/or games, players must immediately leave the gym. Players may not wait inside for pick up.
All participants, coaches, referees etc.. must wear masks at all times, including during active participation in basketball activities including games.
Participants must bring their own water to basketball activities. No water fountains will be available.
Participants will have his/her own basketball.
We encourage players to bring hand sanitizer to each clinic/basketball activity. We will also have hand sanitizer available and we encourage frequent usage by each player and coach.
During all basketball drills, when possible, six to eight foot social distancing will be maintained.
To ensure a safe entry and exit from the gym/facility, there will be fifteen-minute buffer between the end of one practice/game and the beginning of a new practice/game.
Cleaning and disinfecting of items will be done frequently during practices/games and in between games/practices.
If a player, coach, referee or other designated gym volunteer tests positive for coronavirus, they are required to notify their team’s coach. Coaches will report any positive test results reported for their team to BRYC Basketball leadership at
Protocols designed and used by the Virginia High School League (VHSL) will be followed by our league as they are followed by high school athletes. Guidelines for a variety of sports including basketball can be found on the VHSL website at www.vhsl.org.
